Republican Women

The Republican Women of Pitt County will hold their monthly meeting from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room at 400 Saint Andrews. A lunch buffet will be served for $14 per person. The seventh annual Winterville Community Yard Sale will be held at 7 a.m. on Saturday at the Winterville Recreation Park on Division Street. Enjoy a day at the park while shopping through yard sale wares.

Glowing for a Cure

The Glowing for a Cure 5K Run/Walk will start at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday at the University Church of God, 2215 B. Stokes Road, in support of Riley’s Army and Rally for Ally, local cancer organizations. Strides for Scholars

Plant Sale

The Master Gardeners of Pitt County will hold their annual plant sale from 9-10 a.m. for Friends of the Arboretum and from 10 a.m.-noon for the public on Saturday at the Pitt County Extension/Arboretum, 403 Government Circle. Call 252-902-1709.

Talent Show

The Celebration of Youth Expressions Talent Show will be held 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the Greenville Town Common, 105 E. First St. The event will showcase the talents of Pitt County young people, ages 5 to 19. 

Pancake fundraiser

Rose Hill FWB Church, 6236 County Home Road will hold a pancake and sausage dinner fundraiser from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday. A silent auction will also be held from 4:30-7 p.m. The $6 donation will benefit the pastor’s son, who is battling cancer.

Spring fiesta

AMEXCAN will sponsor the First Annual Spring Fiesta from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Belvoir Elementary School, 2568 N.C. 33 West. The festival will celebrate all cultures. Activities will include face painting, Zumba, food, exhibits, games, live music and much more.

MS Fundraiser

The Greater Carolinas Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society will sponsor a “Reggae Block Party” from 6-10 p.m. Saturday at 311 E. Third St. All proceeds go to the Greater Carolinas Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and locals diagnosed with MS. Call 252-512-0831.

Barbershop

Carolina Chord Connection Barbershop Chorus presents its annual show Music! Music! Music! at 7 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, 2810 East 14th St. Tickets are $10 in advance and profits will benefit Greenville Community Crossroads Center. Fun Fest

A Neighborhood Fun Fest will be held 2-5 p.m. Saturday at Peace Presbyterian Church, 301 Guiness Drive. Free activities will include a bouncy house, Greenville fire truck, Greenville Police K-9 demonstration, Tae Kwan Do demonstration, face painting, balloon animals and games, free food and a bicycle raffle.

HomeTown Bethel

HomeTown Bethel will host a community yard sale, bake sale and grilled hot dog sale from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the corner of Washington and Main Streets in Bethel across from the Da-Nite. Proceeds will benefit the Bethel Christmas Parade.

Open house

The Winterville Historical and Arts Society will host an open house Sunday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Winterville Museum at the Cox-Ange House, 2543 Church St., Winterville. Jesse Riggs, Winterville historian, will discuss the History of Winterville Past and Present. Riggs has prepared a self-guided tour booklet that will be available for tours throughout the city. Private or group tours of the museum can be scheduled by calling 252-321-2660. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.

Free concert

The Emerald City Big Band will perform a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at C.M. Eppes Middle School, 1100 S. Elm St., in the gymnasium. Eppes students and friends will be featured in the concert. Musical selections, from Count Basie to Earth, Wind & Fire, will appeal to all ages. Two items in Wednesday’s community news were dated incorrectly. The Winterville Kiwanis Club pancake dinner and The Farmville Senior Council meeting are Thursday, May 25, not today.
